1. Selective Racks

2. Drive-in Racks

These racks provide high-density storage. Due to the high density of products stored, the racks are sturdily built using high quality steel.

3. Push Back Racking Systems

These racking systems are high-density storage systems that are deep and tall. They feature specialized channels. When a product is placed on the shelf, it pushes the load already present on the shelf to the back. This continues until the shelf is filled up. When a load is removed, the product placed behind this load automatically travels to the front. This is known as the LIFO (Last-in, First-out) method.

4. Flow Racks

Also known as gravity flow racks, this racking system is used for high-density storage. The racks are designed in a way that when a product is loaded onto the rack, the automated system moves it forward. The second load will be loaded behind this load. This is known as the FIFO (First-in, First-out) method. The gravity-powered automated systems feature speed controllers. The movement is controlled in accordance with the weight of the load situated on the shelf of the rack.

When choosing a pallet rack, keep in mind the requirements of the application. Factors like the product to be stored, frequency of product movement should be considered in order to make the right decision. Since warehouse space is quite expensive, you might be tempted to opt for a high-density storage system. However, if you stock fast moving products, this system might not be feasible owing to higher labor costs. Hence, the racking system can alter your entire budget.
